Internationalization in Action: University of Isfahan Among Selected Universities at BRICS Scientific Event
Internationalization in Action: University of Isfahan Among Selected Universities at BRICS Scientific Event
The University of Isfahan has once again demonstrated its growing international presence by being selected to participate in the 10th BRICS Young Scientists Forum, held from September 14–16, 2025 in Brasília, Brazil. This prestigious event brought together young scientists from BRICS member states (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) alongside international participants to discuss pressing global challenges in fields such as artificial intelligence, climate change, and scientific diplomacy.
The University of Isfahan was chosen as one of only a few Iranian universities represented at the Forum, highlighting its strong academic reputation and active engagement in international scientific collaboration. In the Iranian delegation of eight young scientists, Dr. Reza Zakarinzhad, faculty member of the University of Isfahan, delivered a presentation on “Soil Erosion under Climate Change Using Remote Sensing Techniques.” His contribution received significant attention and reflected the University’s expertise in addressing global environmental issues.
During the three-day program, the representative of the University of Isfahan also met with senior officials from the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology and held bilateral discussions with delegations from China, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, India, and the UAE, exploring opportunities for future academic and research collaboration. Notably, the University of Isfahan proposed the establishment of a BRICS Working Group on Land Degradation, an initiative welcomed by the Forum organizers.
The event concluded with a keynote speech by the Brazilian Minister of Science, who praised the commitment of young scientists and underscored the importance of expanding scientific cooperation among BRICS member states.
This milestone reflects the University of Isfahan’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships, enhancing scientific diplomacy, and positioning itself as a hub for high-quality education and research in the region.
